Students from around the nation have the opportunity to connect and learn from Portland public relations professionals at this day-long event as they share their knowledge of the industry with students. PR PDX is open to students at the University of Oregon, surrounding students in other institutions interested in public relations, and PRSSA non-delegates attending PRSSA National Assembly.

Session 1: 9-10 a.m. Storytelling Workshop
Are you presenting yourself well enough? You have the opportunity to refresh your creative storytelling skills by writing your elevator pitch or short bio with the help of 3-4 local University of Oregon alumni and editors to guide you to your perfect presentation.
Session 2: 10-11 a.m. Pitching Workshop
Learn how to write an email pitch from local journalists who have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. Find out what journalists expect from you when you make your first pitch.
Session 3: 11:15 a.m.-2 p.m. Industry Professional Panel and Lunch
Not sure what to expect post-graduation? Maybe you’re a little late in finding an internship or position after you’re done with school. Hear local industry professionals answer all your questions from what to expect in the agency life or how to put your best foot forward within a few months from graduation.

The University of Oregon Public Relations Student Society of America (UO PRSSA) would like to invite you to PR PDX. The day-long event offers Portland communications professionals the opportunity to connect and share their knowledge of the industry to students from around the nation.
UO PRSSA would love you to attend and participate in this event if you’re available. Our sessions include two professional development workshops, an industry professional panel, and a networking lunch. We are looking for professionals to serve as mentors, working directly with students and offering real-time feedback during the sessions – more details below.
Session 1: 9-10 a.m. Storytelling Workshop Help students fine-tune their elevator pitch or short bio at this writing workshop. This is an opportunity to give tips on how students can creatively tell their story.
Session 1: 10-11 a.m. Pitching Workshop What catches your eye when you receive a pitch email? Provide students with the do’s and don’ts of an email pitch. KIND Bars is kindly providing products to use as “the pitch.”
Session 3: 11:15 a.m.-2 p.m. Industry Professional Panel and Lunch Answer student questions about preparing for life in the Portland area, post-grad experience, and what is expected of new professionals. (Professionals who wish to attend this session will have lunch provided from 12-2 p.m.)
