2017-18 committee applications are closed. 

UO PRSSA is looking for team members to join the Communications and Events Committees, plus a graphic designer. Please submit your current resume and a short cover letter outlining your reasons for wanting to serve on the committee and any applicable experience – please submit all materials in PDF format. Be sure to include your top committee choice in your cover letter! If applying to the Communications Committee, please mention which position/s within the committee you are interested in (listed below) and why you are qualified. You may apply to a committee as a non-member but are expected to become a member if hired.

Committees are assigned based on your interest and skills, along with where UO PRSSA needs the most assistance. We’ll always do our best to assign you to a committee of your choice. Committees will meet after our full chapter meetings every other Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. Committee members are required to attend all committee meetings every other Wednesday at 7:15 p.m., following PRSSA chapter meetings (five per term: 10/4, 10/18, 11/1, 11/15, 11/29). Committee members are also expected to volunteer at PRSSA events and fundraisers.

Applications for committees open on September 25 and are due to by October 6. We’ll announce committee assignments by email by October 11.

Events Committee– Headed by Cassidy Scott

The Events Committee is for individuals interested in developing, planning and facilitating events, namely fundraisers, for UO PRSSA. No experience is required. We are looking for creative members who are excited to execute memorable events and gain valuable PR and event planning experience. There will be about two meetings a month and time commitment will vary depending on the event schedule.

Communication Committee– Headed by Talia Smith

The Communications Committee is looking for content creators to join the team! This position is ideal for someone who has a love for writing, blogging, multimedia and design. We are looking for creative people to help us boost our social media presence and bring fresh new ideas to the table. The Communications Committee provides an excellent opportunity to create a collection of portfolio pieces backed up with social media data. The Communication Committee works closely with the Events Committee to create promotional materials for PRSSA events and fundraisers.


Photographer – responsible for taking pictures at PRSSA events and meetings, taking headshots and uploading pictures to the committee google drive. Photos will be used on social media and the PRSSA website.

Videographer – Responsible for creating short, promotional or recap videos for the UO PRSSA website and social media channels.

Blogger (2) – Responsible for writing a quality blog post every other week for the UO PRSSA ImPRess Blog (about five per term). Blog posts must be taken to the Writing Central before submitting and must include a high-resolution photo. Bloggers have creative freedom to write about anything pertaining to PR.

Member Monday Coordinator – Responsible for creating a weekly Instagram post highlighting a PRSSA member. Those in this position will be required to select a member using a provided spreadsheet, conduct a brief interview via email, request or coordinate a headshot with the photographer, and edit interview into a 150 character Instagram post.

ImPRessive Internships Coordinator- A social media campaign which highlights students in the journalism school who have had impressive internships (past posts include NASCAR, NPR, etc.) Those in this position are encouraged to explore various media (Video, podcast, journalistic story). Must also be good at networking and finding interesting subjects.

Graphic Designer – This position will fit under the Communications Committee and work directly with the communications director. The PRSSA graphic designer is responsible for creating digital posters for our bi-weekly chapter meetings, informational content for PRSSA events, including fundraising events such as Finals Grams, as well as promotional material for Allen Hall monitors highlighting our membership campaign, Professional Development Tours, networking events and mentorship programs.
